Mortal Kombat was such an inspiring game when it was released in 1993, that a film based on the game was also released in 1995. Infact it was the first game to really successfully use almost photo rendered graphics.

Mortal Kombat and street fighter were the kings of beatem up's in the early 90's and definitely should not be forgotten. Select characters such as Sub Zero and his counterpart Scorpio, or the deadly Raiden, each character you choose has special moves along with a final death move known as the "fatality". Once you have beaten your opponent the commentator will shout "Finish Him!" that's when you perform your fatality move to watch a slick death sequence!
