Default Winzip

I am looking for a Free old version of Winzip. Not a Free trial for 21 days version, but a free for ever version. Can anyone tell me if there are any Winzip old versions on this site that are free for ever? I looked the the latest old version Winzip 8 and that was a 21 day free trial. I hope someone can give me some advice. I am only a home user. Thankyou.

I am sure the more knowlegeable on these forums will tell you that there is no free version of WinZip. If you do not register and pay (not much) you can enjoy all of the benifits of the registered version. The only difference is that you have to click on and accept that you agree to using the unregistered version each time you open WinZip.

There is no need to make double postings. If you post and later discover you posted in the wrong board, no worrys, it will be moved to the proper boards. If your making double posts thinking it will get noticed better than one, it wont increase your chances of getting a reply, as each thread gets looked at by many people, so no worrys there.

Winzip was never freeware, it was shareware. if you want a freeware compression utility, try;
7-zip Which can also handle RAR files as well.

Thank you for your replies. I am sorry about the double posting, but I was not sure which was the right one. I have never heard of 7-Zip before. Is there anyone reading this using it, and what do they think of it? Thank you.

I use it, and I have set up many of the computers to use it, its faster than winzip and any other archival program. It handles many formats, such as gzip, bzip, rar, zip. I can unzip files from the right-menu click, without the need to load up a seperate applications, such as the way winzip behaves.
Its free, can be used on many platforms. It can compress zip files into smaller sizes than winzip can. There really is no reason not to use it.

Using Keygens is illegal, if you want to use this product in full mode, purchase a license. Otherwise, use a freeware alternative, or deal with the nag screen.
OldVersion.com does not condone the use of illegal practices to defraud the developers of payment.

Also- Please take the time to search for the file your seeking in the previous postings before starting a NEW thread. This way you can find what your seeking now- if the file was requested in the past- and help reduce repeated postings for the same app.
posting requests for winzip products in existing winzip threads is also a good idea it helps reduce the number of winzip threads to search through.

Winzip Versions And Add-ons[/quote]as zip programs (prolly100s of them! ) must be one of the best served by the freeware scene it is hard to understand why you would use a pay for version.
